A Virginia man who confirmed police an unauthorized inauguration credential at a checkpoint alongside the perimeter securing downtown Washington, D.C., forward of Inauguration Day was arrested after a gun and a whole lot of rounds of ammunition have been present in his automobile, police mentioned.
Wesley Allen Beeler, of Entrance Royal, pulled as much as a safety checkpoint at North Capitol Avenue and E Avenue Northwest about 6:30 p.m. Friday in a white Ford 150 truck with Virginia tags and gun-related decals, based on U.S. Capitol Police information.
The truck Beeler was driving was embellished with firearm decals, together with ones that mentioned “Assault Life” and “If they arrive to your weapons, Give ‘Em your bullets first.”
Police say Beeler offered a credential that was unauthorized. Authorities did not instantly present additional element on what kind of documentation Beeler allegedly tried to supply.
When the credential did not match up with a listing of individuals approved to enter the inauguration perimeter, U.S. Capitol Cops carried out additional searches.
A gun with a high-capacity journal inserted and ammunition have been discovered within the automobile, police mentioned. The gun was not registered in Washington, D.C., police mentioned.
Police say in addition they discovered “509 9MM rounds of hole level & ball ammunition” and 21 12-gauge shotgun shells.
Beeler was arrested and brought to U.S. Capitol Police Headquarters for processing.
Beeler is charged with carrying a hid weapon, possessing an unregistered firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of a giant capability ammunition feeding machine, based on D.C. police.
